Supporting Hospitality Workers
On February 14th in Aras na nGael on Dominick Street, Senators Paul Gavan and Ged Nash met with the ONE Galway representatives and the Galway hospitality groups to discuss the bill, what it means to workers and to ask for their support in getting the Bill through the Seanad. The meeting coincided with the re-launch of ONE Galway’s “My Tip My Reward” public campaign.
Yvonne McGrath of ONE Galway also welcomes this proposed legislation which she believes will help alleviate some of the difficulties faced by workers every day, if passed. “It is about time we considered the hard-working staff in the hospitality sector and ensure they have a right to receive the tips customers intended for them. This legislation will secure such a right and follows examples already in place in Canada and the UK” she said
