Youth and Student Organising

We understand many of the difficulties facing our young people today in accessing decent jobs leading to enhanced prospects and life opportunities. However, we are conscious that an understanding is just not enough and our group are working to deepen the movement’s engagement with young people, who are workers, apprentices, students or young people who find themselves outside of formal work or education arrangements for various reasons.

In August 2016, we organised out first State of the Nation event and we would like to organise these events on a regular basis given the success of the first one. #sotn creates a safe space for young people to explore and express political ideas and beliefs around issues that affect young people in the working world and beyond. Youth clinics will be rolled out across Cork in the near future. These events are aimed at those under the age of 35 but are open to all. You do not need to be a union member to attend these events and details are posted on Facebook, Twitter and in the Upcoming Events section of this website.

Another one of our aims is to ensure that young people are aware of and can access their working rights and entitlements at work.

If you have any queries or concerns directly relating to your working life, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at info@onemovement.work  and we can point you in the right direction.
